Sewage still a problem post-Sandy | Surfrider Foundation

Check out this scary report from The Surfrider Foundation regarding the raw sewage that’s leaked into our waterways (first reported by the New York Times).

It’s an outrage there’s been little said about water quality and the resulting health risk in the wake of Sandy. Before you paddle out or grab a fishing pole, remember that you can’t see, taste, or smell many of the things that may be lurking – things like e-coli or hepatitis. Our local NYC Chapter of Surfrider is working to find solutions for adequate water quality testing in this area. Want to help? Shoot an email to secretary@nyc.surfrider.org.

The waves were firing a few weeks ago – but I won’t be on my board anytime soon… We just don’t know what’s in the water.
